Neil was born on April 21, 1942, in a suburb of Rochester, New York. He attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, graduating in 1964 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Electrical Engineering. From an early age, Neil’s curiosity, intellect, and determination set him apart, shaping the path for a lifetime of innovation and leadership.
In 1969, Neil co-founded MEDITECH, one of the world’s oldest healthcare software development companies, officially opening its doors on August 4, 1969. Over the next 56 years, he guided the company with vision, integrity, and ingenuity, pioneering software solutions specifically designed for hospitals and co-authoring the first healthcare-specific programming language. Under his leadership, MEDITECH became a cornerstone of healthcare technology, improving the lives of countless patients, clinicians, and administrators worldwide.
Beyond his professional achievements, Neil was a lifelong learner and philanthropist, dedicating his time, energy, and resources to advancing education, research, and innovation.
